Look at how disgusted he is by the very notion that she could touch his hair too without permission
Pay close attention folks.
VERY close attention folks.
This is the nature of everyone else vs. black people’s hair summed up in two gifs.
You touch ours willy-fucking nilly but are repulsed when someone DARES to invade your precious boundaries. I see you double standard, I fucking see you.
The body language says it all…. I myself have the privilege of being the big scary looking black man so I have only had one interaction of this “petting” with another adult (21yrs ^) in regard to my hair since I started my Locs. Since I follow plenty of natural sisters I get y’all’s accounts of these incidences and to deal with this on a regular basis I honestly don’t see how y’all do it.
I found this on Tumblr. From the notes, it’s clear that this may have been orchestrated by comedians, but I’m not for certain. Either way, I think it’s important to respect the personal space of others. When this basic principle is violated, I believe people have a right to get defensive. What happened to keeping your hands to yourself?
How do you handle unsolicited hair petting?
