Transitioning Wash Day Routine

Hey Curlfriends!

As a part of the Challenge I will be taking part in, I decided to do a post on my routine.

Weekly:

  1. Oil Wash with Amla Oil, using the finger comb method in 4 twisted sections. Cover hair and let sit for at least 1 hour, usually over night
  2. Co-Wash with Cheapy Conditioner (Hello Hydration or any Herbal Essences or even dollar store conditioner)
  3. Deep Condition with ORS Deep Conditioner Mix (I add to the product olive and amla oils for extra ump!)
  4. Wrap hair in plastic cap and deep condition with indirect heat of at least an hour
  5. With hair still in sections, rinse hair in cool water, while using shower comb to detangle.
  6. Wrap hair in old tee-shirt to dry
  7. Working in sections, spray Liquid Leave In
  8. Apply creamy leave in (Giovanni Direct Leave In)
  9. Finally, to seal ends, Shea Butter Mix
  10. Braid
  11. Cover for bed
  12. In the AM take down and gently separate braids
  13. Style
  14. Later in the week, a potential restyle.

Bi-weekly:

  3. Using a solution of ACV diluted with water, I go through each section and cleanse my scalp using an applicator bottle.
  4. Wrap hair in plastic cap and deep condition with indirect heat of at least an hour
  5. With hair still in sections, rinse hair in cool water, while using shower comb to detangle.
  6. Wrap hair in old tee-shirt to dry
  7. Working in sections, spray Liquid Leave In
  8. Apply creamy leave in (Giovanni Direct Leave In)
  9. Finally, to seal ends, Shea Butter Mix
  10. Braid
  11. Cover for bed
  12. In the AM take down and gently separate braids
  13. Style
  14. Later in the week, a potential restyle.

Monthly (Amended 1.2.12):

  1. Pre-Poo Oil Wash with Amla Oil, using the finger comb method in 4 twisted sections. Cover hair and let sit for at least 1 hour, usually over night
  2. The next day, apply Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay.  Concentrating on the scalp, massage to remove impurities. After 10 30minutes, rinse thoroughly!
  3. Co-Wash with Cheapy Conditioner (Hello Hydration or any Herbal Essences or even dollar store conditioner)  Omitting this step because I now add the cheapy conditioner to my mix.  See recipe below.
  4. Using a solution of ACV diluted with water, I go through each section and cleanse my scalp using an applicator bottle.\
  5. With hair still in sections, rinse hair in cool water, using shower comb to detangle, combing from the bottom of the hair, upward.
  6. Wrap hair in old tee-shirt to dry
  7. Working in sections, spray Liquid Leave In, Apply creamy leave in (Giovanni Direct Leave In), and finally my Shea Butter Mix to seal the ends
  8. Braid and cover with a silk scarf for bed
  9. The Morning After:  Gently, take down and gently separate braids
  10. Protective Style
  11. Later in the week, a potential restyle.
